Mrs. Mary M. Foley, 81, of Ripon, formerly of St. Nazianz, died Wednesday morning, May 18, at Park View Nursing Home, Ripon. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Lester Groeschl will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Foley, nee Mary Gaffney, was born Oct. 12, 1901, at Rockwell, Iowa, daughter of the late John and Jane Treston Gaffney. She attended Sacred Heart Academy at Rockwell and was graduated in 1923 from Mercy School of Nursing at Dubuque, Iowa. Following graduation, she was a nurse at Dubuque and Kenosha, Wis. She was married to Dr. Mark E. Foley Feb. 1, 1941, at Fond du Lac.
The couple resided in St. Nazianz from 1947 until 1961, when they moved to Ripon. Dr. Foley preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1983. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, St. Gregory Christian Mothers and American Legion Auxiliary Sukawaty-Eberle Post of St. Nazianz.
Survivors include two brothers, Edward Gaffney of Royal, Iowa, and John Gaffney of Swaedale, Iowa; three sisters, Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Mason City, Iowa, and Bridget Gaffney and Hazel Fitzgerald of Rockwell, Iowa, and nieces and nephews. A brother, Hubert,preceded her in death.
Friends may call at St. Gregory Catholic Church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.
