on 26 Nov. 1812. He came to America in 1837 landing in New York where he remained until 1865 when he came to St. Nazians and established a farm. He is the father of J.A. Gerhard, a professor in the seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He leaves a widow, a grown son and three daughters.
