Gnadt, Alois John (A. J. and Whishie) (April 27, 1918-Dec. 20, 1975 –husband of Veronica De Prey [married June 27, 1946 in Brown County –divorced in 1970] –son of John A. Gnadt and Olive Goetz –born Town of Cato –veteran of the Second World War –sergeant in the ordinance department serving in Panama –mechanic –on July 1, 1947 purchased his parents’ house at 16804 County C in Section 19, Town of Liberty –lived in this house until selling on April 5, 1956 –on July 26, 1955 purchased the vacant lot at 112 South Sixth Avenue in St. Nazianz and had a house built –on March 9, 1970 Alois quit claimed this house to Veronica –this was due to a divorce settlement –Veronica continued to live in this house until selling on June 29, 1971 –died in Milwaukee County –died from “coronary insufficiency –severe coronary arteriosclerosis –right coronary artery thrombosis”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 5, Row 6, Lot 31] [marriage record in Brown County] [death record in Milwaukee County]

Alois J. Gnadt, 57, of Wood, Wis., formerly of St. Nazianz died Saturday at Wood. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Christianson Deja Funeral Home and at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Cyril Dickrell will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gnadt was born April 27, 1918, at Clarks Mills, son of the late John Gnadt and Mrs. Mary Goetz Gnadt. He attended St. Gregory School and Valders High School. He was a sergeant in the ordinance department in World War II, serving in Panama. He was employed as a mechanic at Salvatorian Center, New Holstein, and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 477 of St. Nazianz.
Survivors include a son, Joseph, of Rt. 1, Valders, a daughter, Mrs. George (Mary) Whelan, of Philadelphia, Pa., his mother, Mrs. Mary Gnadt, of St. Nazianz, four brothers, George of Manitowoc, Bernard of St. Nazianz, John of Milwaukee and Jerome of Menomonee Falls, three sisters, Mrs. John (Marie) Domagolski of Menomonee Falls and Miss Ruth Gnadt and Mrs. Robert (Adeline) Martin of Chicago and a grandchild. A son preceded him in death.
