Groh, Edward John (Aug. 11, 1900-Jan. 23, 1967 –husband of Lorina Christel [married Sept. 23, 1924 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –son of William Groh and Barbara Koenig –farmer in Town of Liberty –on Jan. 2, 1950 purchased the 119 acre farm at 16319 County C in Section 30, Town of Liberty on a land contract from his father-in-law Albert Christel –on April 20, 1960 quit claimed this farm back to Albert Christel –that same day, April 20, 1960, Albert Christel sold this farm to Edward and Lorina’s son Edward Frank Groh and his wife Betty Mathes –died from “terminal general arteriosclerosis –contributing factor senility”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 5, Row 1, Lot 9] [marriage record Manitowoc 19-237] [death record Manitowoc 63-284]

EDWARD JOHN GROH (d. 1967)

Funeral services for Edward Groh Sr., 66, of St. Nazianz, who died Monday at Manitowoc County Hospital, will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Christianson Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. David Christel, S.D.S., a nephew, will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery

Mr. Groh was born Aug. 11, 1900, at St. Nazianz, son of the late William and Barbara Koenig Groh. He married Lorina Christel Sept. 23, 1924, at St. Nazianz and the couple farmed. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, charter membe of the St. Nazianz Volunteer Fire Dept.
and was active in the Manitowoc County Baseball League as a player-member.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, Jerome of St. Nazianz, Robert of Manitowoc, Edward of Rt. 1, Valders, and Paul of Rt. 1, Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Julie Wagner of Manitowoc; two brothers, William of New Holstein and Roland of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Belinske
of Manitowoc and Mrs. Frank Schmidtbauer of Sheboygan; 16 grandchildren and a great grandchild. A brother preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home where at 8 o’clock this Tuesday evening the Rosary will be recited.
