Sister Andrea Kelbel, 65, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Friday, November 10, 1989 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial celebrant will be Rev. Joseph Kelbel. Concelebrant will be Rev. Robert B. Reppen, O.Praem. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Sister Andrea was born December 13, 1923 at Petoskey, Michigan, daughter of the late John and Mary Raynyak. The former Anna Kelbel entered the convent in 1938 and professed her vows in 1932 (??). Sister Andrea earned a B.A. Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister taught at St. Francis, Hollandtown, Wisconsin; St. Joseph, Rice Lake, Wisconsin; Sacred Heart, Manitowoc, Wisconsin; St. Rose, Clintonville, Wisconsin; Holy Rosary, New Holstein, Wisconsin; St. Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio; St. Ann, Escanaba, Michigan; St. Francis, Petoskey, Michigan; Holy Name Central, Escanaba, Michigan; Immaculate Conception, DePere, Wisconsin. She was secretary and driver for the Northern Regional House, Green Bay, Wisconsin. Sister was local director at St. Anthony, Marinette, Wisconsin and Ozanam Home, New Berlin, Wisconsin. She was homemaker at Sacred Heart, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Since her illness in 1988 she has been residing at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Stephen Kelbel of Petoskey, Michigan, John Kelbel of Petoskey, Michigan, Bert Kelbel of San Diego, California and Mrs. Maxine Kelbel of Lake Elsinore, California; two sisters, Sister Helen Kelbel of Sturgeon Bay and Mrs. Margaret Upton of Lincoln Park, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at Holy Family Convent from 4 pm to 8 pm Monday where a prayer service will be at 7 pm in the Convent Chapel. Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is handling arrangements.
