The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 1998, at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. Rev. Samuel Jadin will officiate, with burial in the Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
The former Alfreda Klapperich was born November 4, 1906, in Marytown, Wis., daughter of the late John and Frances Wagner Klapperich. Sister Gabriele entered the convent in 1921, professing her vows in 1925. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Norbert College, DePere ,and received her Master of Education degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee. Sister Gabriele served as an elementary teacher at New Munster; St. John, Antigo; St. Paul, Manitowoc; St. Therese, Appleton, St. Joseph, Rice Lake; St. Joseph, Waukesha; St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay; St. Mary, Kaukauna; Holy Innocents, Manitowoc; St. John, Wellsburg, W.Va.; St. Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio; SS. Peter & Paul, Wellston, Ohio; and St. Willibrord, Chicago. She also served as a high school teacher and tutor at St. Willibrord, Chicago, staff member at Silver Lake College, and a teacher in the Reading Clinic. She retired to St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, in 1988, and has been a resident at the Motherhouse since 1996.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, one sister, Sister Joseph Francis Klapperich OSF, Manitowoc; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Holy Family Convent, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent Chapel
