Haungs, Mathias (Jan. 31, 1814-April 9, 1904 –husband of Catharina Blot –son of Joseph Haungs and Helena [both born in Germany] –born in Baden –arrived in the US via New York in Nov. of 1854 –applied for naturalization on Nov. 23, 1854 –farmer in Town of Liberty –on Sept. 27, 1855 purchased 14 acres from Fr. Ambrose Oschwald and had a house built for this small farm at 212 Fur Drive in Section 19, Town of Liberty –Katherine lived in this house until her death on Nov. 12, 1895 –Mathias lived here until his death in 1904 –from July 14, 1863 to May 18, 1879 owned 40 acres of farmland in the S1/2 of the S1/2 of the NE1/4 of Section 13, Town of Eaton –from July 21, 1877 to July 25, 1878 owned the 40 acre farm at 8831 Glen Flora Road in Section 35, Town of Eaton –from Dec. 9, 1882 to Nov. 7, 1883 again owned the now 120 acre farm centered at 8831 Glen Flora Road in Section 35 –on March 29, 1892 purchased the 200 acre farm centered at 7012 Whippoorwill Lane in Section 21, Town of Eaton from Joseph and Margaret Straka –on April 20, 1897, as a widower, Mathias sold 50 acres of this 200 acre farm to Ernest Brunmeier and his wife Anna Schleh –on this same day (April 20, 1897) Mathias sold the remaining 150 acres of this farm, including the farmstead at 7012 Whippoorwill Lane, to Anton Schleh and his wife Theresa Kaltenbrun –at time of death lived at 212 Fur Lane in St. Nazianz, Town of Liberty –died from “pneumonia”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 1, Row 12, Lot 13 –stone] [death record Manitowoc 7-232]
