Heisdorf, Maria nee Zimmer (June 11, 1845-May 15, 1926 [death record shows a birth date of June 10, 1844 but baptismal record in Germany shows June 11, 1845] –wife of Nicholas Heisdorf [married Aug. 27, 1872 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Spring Valley, Town of Meeme] –daughter of Michael Zimmer and Maria Wagner –born Cassell, Alsace-Lorraine, Germany [also shown as Castel in Freudenburg in district of Saarburg –today Castel is shown as Kastel-Staadt] –immigrated to the US in 1872, arriving on April 2, 1872 –Maria was the only member of her immediate family to immigrate to the US –Maria’s parents and three siblings never came to America –her siblings who remained in Germany were Peter Zimmer [1835-1878], Magdalena Zimmer Palz [died in 1915], and John Zimmer [died in 1902] –on May 8, 1912, as a widow, Maria purchased the vacant lot at 106 South First Avenue in St. Nazianz and had a house built –she lived in this house until selling on July 10, 1918 –on May 28, 1915, Maria purchased from the Salvatorians the house at 110 South First Avenue in St. Nazianz –she lived in this house until her death in 1926 –died from “chronic arteriosclerotic myocarditis –chronic bronchial asthma –arteriosclerosis –thrombosis –causing gangrene of left foot”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 1, Row 20, Lot 13 –stone] [marriage record Manitowoc 4-76] [death record Sheboygan 28-301]

Mrs. Nick Heisdorf, age 82, died Saturday, May 8, at St. Nicholas hospital at Sheboygan. She had an attack of influenza and was taken from here to the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. Degenhardt, Sheboygan and later to the hospital.

Two sons and two daughters survive, William Heisdorf of DePere, John Heisdorf of Richfield, Mrs. Mary Degenhardt of Sheboygan and Mrs. Sophia Miller of Milwaukee. The remains were brought here and funeral services held yesterday at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Heisdorf was born in Caswell, Germany and later came to this country.
When grown in womanhood she married the late Nicholas Heisdorf and the couple then settled on a farm near Meeme and after near St. Nazianz, until old age overtook them when they moved into the village. Mr. Heisdorf preceded his widow in death fifteen years ago. The surviving children all attended the funeral. She leaves twenty-one grandchildren and seven great grand children.
Her maiden name was Miss Mary Zimmer.
