Holzer, Alois (also shown as Alex) (April 9, 1865-Oct. 22, 1942 –husband of Amelia Beierle [married Aug. 7, 1894 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, City of Manitowoc] –son of George Holzer and Barbara Singer –born Town of Eaton –mason –on March 27, 1893 purchased an 80 acre farm in the E1/2 of the SE1/4 of Section 29, Town of Eaton that today is a much larger property of 360 acres centered at 22110 Steinthal Road –since Alois was not able to keep payment on the mortgage, he lost this farm on March 29, 1898 –in July of 1899 purchased the original public school at Five Corners in Section 26, Town of Eaton and lived in this former school house until his death in 1942 –soon after his death, this former school house was razed –on Nov. 12, 1927 purchased the former Weinkoetz house just south of the Opera House at 204 South Fourth Avenue in St. Nazianz –on April 5, 1929 sold this house to his son-in-law George Scherer and his wife Mathilda Holzer –died from “coronary occlusion” –“Alois Holzer, 77, lifelong county resident was found dead in bed at his home at Five Corners, town of Eaton, shortly before 3 a.m. today. He suffered a heart attack.”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 4, Row 1, Lot 10] [marriage record Manitowoc 6-258] [death record Manitowoc 35-418]

St. Nazianz – Alois Holzer, 77, passed away Thursday at his home two and one-half miles southwest of St. Nazianz. He was born in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, April 9, 1865, and lived in this community all his life. In August, 1893, he was married to Miss Emilia Biely at St. Boniface church at Manitowoc. He followed the mason trade all his life.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. George Scherer at St. Nazianz, and Mrs. Charles Kuskie Of Milwaukee; one sister, Mrs. John Nickolay of Seymour; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
