Kautzer, Hector (Sept. 12, 1900-May 15, 1962 –husband of Ida Fessler [married April 12, 1926 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town Eaton] –son of Edward Kautzer and Josephine Kotlow –born Auburndale, Wood County –insurance salesman and real estate agent –owner operator of the tavern and service station at 4624 Highway A in Section 12, Town of Eaton, taking over operations from his brother-in-law John Fessler in 1937 and running this business until his death in 1962 –on Sept. 29, 1962, his widow Ida sold this tavern to the widow Valeria Dewane –on March 12, 1942 purchased from his father-in-law Anton Fessler the vacant lot at 102 West Main Street in St. Nazianz and had a house built –Hector lived in this house until his death in 1962 –his widow Ida lived here until her death on April 17, 1990 –died from "lymphoma of the Hodgkin's disease variety") –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town Eaton [buried in Section 4, Row 8, Lot 22] [marriage record Manitowoc 20-173] [death record Manitowoc 56-598]

HECTOR KAUTZER, 61, operator of a tavern and filling station at St. Nazianz, died at his home early today after a linger illness. Funeral services will be held at St. Nazianz at 10 a.m., Friday at the Christianson Funeral Home and at 10:15 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church.
The Rev. Denis Cooney, pastor, will be the celebrant of the requiem Mass and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday. Members of the Holy Name Society will hold a vigil there at 8 p.m. Thursday.
A native of Marshfield, Mr. Kautzer was born Sept. 12, 1900, a son of Edward and Josephine Kotlow Kautzer, and married the former Ida Fessler on April 12, 1926, at St. Nazianz. Mr. Kautzer was in the real estate and insurance business before going into the tavern and filling station business at Highway 151 and County Trunk A.
Survivors are his widow; a son, James of rural Valders; a daughter, Mrs. Delores Weske of Milwaukee; three brothers, Ervin of Sheboygan, Reuben of rural Manitowoc, Edward of rural Kiel; four sisters. Mrs. Lila Valdora, Mrs. Hazel Halfenstein, Mrs. Pearl Mowery and Mrs. Myrtle Nelsen, all of California, and seven grandchildren.
