He had lived in Hagerstown until 1964 when he went to Falls Church, Va., to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Cooper. He was employed as a mail carrier at the local post office for over 40 years, retiring in 1945.
He was a member of the First Brethren Church, Men's Bible Class, veteran of World War I, serving in the European Theatre, a member of the Veterans of World War I General Reno Barracks No. 152, a member of the Morris Frock Post, American Legion, No. 40?, and National Association of Retired Civil Service employes.
He leaves daughters, Mrs. Margaret V. Cooper, Falls Church, Va., Mrs. C. Jean Shank, missionary stationed in Nigeria, five grandchildren, brothers M. Heck, Hagerstown, Ralph N., Arlington, Va., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the A.K. Coffman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

John F. Heck, Downsville, received a telegram yesterday from the War Department, informing him that his son, Corp. VERNON W. HECK, had been severely wounded in action on November 8. Corporal Heck was a member of Company G., Three Hundred and Thirteenth Infantry.
