Johnny E. "Jake" Davis, 59, of 1654 Oak Hill Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 27, at the VA Medical Center in Louisville.
He was born on June 9, 1936, in Homlay, Okla., the son of John Loyd and Lillie Frances Ramsey Davis. He was a boilermaker and a member of Union Local No. 374, a member of Jefferson Post No. 9, American Legion, where he served as bingo caller; and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth May McElfresh Davis; three daughters, Glenda Campbell of Seymour, Harriett Stivers of Scottsburg and Linda Oberholtzer of Madison; two sons, John Paul Davis and Joe Edward Davis, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his mother, Lillie Borrell of Cleveland, Okla.; three stepdaughters, Sylvia Fryman of Aberdeen, Ohio, Dorothea Lynn of Florence Ky., and Deborah Bladen of Madison, three step-sons: Larry McClanahan of Maysville, Ky., Jacob McClanahan of Wisconsin, and John Gulley of Hebron, Ky.; one sister, Billie Lassock of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; one brother, James Davis of Cleveland, Okla.; 30 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one son, James Davis.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Madison time Tuesday at the Milton Wesleyan Church.
There will be no visitation. The Vail-Holt Funeral Home Madison Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
