Mary Ellen Horrall gave birth to her only child, a son, that she gave up for adoption in 1912. Her son was adopted by a local Artesia NM attorney, James H Jackson and his wife, Myrtle Eilene (Cavitt) Jackson and they named him James Cavitt. The biological father of James Cavitt Jackson was Rolla Walter Hyatt, a traveling photographer from Stephensville, TX. Mary Ellen eventually married Fred Eugene Moss, another photographer, in 1918, and set up a photography studio in Carlsbad, NM by 1920 before moving to California by 1922. They divorced soon afterward and it is believed Fred Moss moved back to NM.
She then married Marion Cecil Stevens, date unknown, in CA, then after his death she married Carl Rost. Mary Ellen and Carl moved to Murietta, CA then moved on to Elsinor, CA, where they lived until her death in January 1965 from heart failure.
