Alton Buckner, son of the late Mr. Charlie Buckner and Mrs. Pearle Strader, was born Sept1, 1907 in Green County and departed this life Feb 19, [1988] in the Taylor County Hospital. He was a member of the Picketts Chapel Church at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Ethel Wray on Dec 23, 1944 who survives. To this Union was born three sons and two daughters: Mr. Roy Lee Buckner and Tommy Buckner, both of Greensburg; Mrs Rosie Abston of Greensburg, Mrs. Carolyn Milby of Russell Springs. He was preceded in death by Mr. Sammy Lee Buckner on Nov 1, 1945. Mr Buckner is also survived by three brothers: Rollin Buckner of Greensburg, Ray Buckner of Greensburg and Owen Buckner of Louisville; one sister Dorothy Curry of Columbia and four grandchildren. Services were conducted Feb 21, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Macedonia Cemetery. Rev. Randall Gray officiated. Pallbearers were Bobby Turner, Joe Beard, Bobby Scott, Leslie Turner, Robert Larimore and Donnie Vaughn.
