Mary "Minnie" Donnelly was born in Cool Hill, Ireland to Michael Donnelly and Rosum Manes and emigrated to the United States at age 17, departing from Ontario, Canada and arriving at Detroit, MI on March 15, 1910 in the company of her sister, Loretta. She took employment as a servant for James and Isabel Hamilton in Eden, WI in Fond du Lac County. Thomas Donnelly (possibly an older brother or cousin of Mary's) also worked there as a hired farm hand.
On April 15, 1913, she married Thomas Moore.
