Charles H. Barrett

The death of Charles Barrett occurred Sunday evening at about 9 o'clock at the home of William Richards at East Springfield. Although he had been in poor health for several years he death was unexpected.
Mr. Barrett was born in Jefferson, Schoharie County, November 6, 1870, the son of the late Sebastian and Eleanor (Fox) Barrett.
When a young man he came with his parents to Cherry Valley which has been his home with the exception of a few years in Albany. Four years ago he went to East Springfield to live with a daughter, Mrs. Leslie Stocking.
He is survived by the daughter mentioned; three sons, Floyd of Little Falls, Fred fo Richfield, and lawyer of Cooperstown; two sisters, mrs. Rose utter of middlefield Center, and mrs. Lucinda Smith of East Worcester, besides several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held from the home of his daughter, Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. mr. Tennies of Cherry Valley officiating, and burial was made in Cherry Valley cemetery beside the grave of his wife, jennie Kilts, who passed away twenty-nine years ago.
The bearers were Lewis Richards, George Flint, donald VanDeusen, Dean Rathbun, August Rathbun and Wm. Scarls.
