John grew up on the family farm on the outskirts of Burlington. When he came of age, he first went to work with his brother-in-law James Guest at Guest Piano.

It is not know when, but he might have followed his Uncle Ger David R Remick to Pawnee, Nebraska. It was reported that he became a banker.

In 1883, John married Antoinette Veloma ____ in Nebraska.

The David family remained in the Pawnee and Lincoln areas until his death in June of 1902. John Cameron David is buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa.
