Henry Claudius Lyle (from his mother's Bible) was born in Pickens County, Alabama after his father came home from the Civil War. The family then moved to Columbus and West Point, Mississippi where his father owned blacksmith shops. Henry Claude Lyle and Neppie O'Malley married in Columbus, Lowndes County Mississippi April 28, 1891. Their children Mara Clyde Lyle (McDonald), Jefferson O'Malley Lyle, and Claudine Lyle (Boone) were born in Mississippi. Claude grew up blacksmithing; his father and other brothers opened "Lyle and Sons Blacksmith and Carriage Shop" in Birmingham, Alabama and Claude started his own foundry/machine shop in Huntsville, Alabama in the early 1900's before moving his business to Beaumont, Texas by 1920. His father and younger brothers moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee and continued blacksmithing, and there Claude's daughter Mara Clyde married Charles Earl McDonald and stayed. Son Jefferson O'Malley Lyle and daughter Claudine Lyle went to Beaumont, Texas - Jefferson married Helen Amanda Burnett and they died in Longview, Greg County, Texas; Claudine married John Thomas Boone who died 1950, and Claudine 1984 in Beaumont.
