The newly wedded couple began housekeeping on the Carl Weitenhagen farm in Windsor where they remained two years, then they moved to the Fred Schnor farm in Bethel and after one year's residence there, went to Sutton, ND in March, 1917.
Two children came to make the home happy. Harry, aged six, and Mildred three years old. The deceased had not been in good health for some time, and upon the advice of the family physician she went to the hospital at Fargo, ND and was operated on the tenth of December. She appeared to be gaining and four days later Mr Weitenhagen returned to Sutton to look after some pressing affairs at the farm, leaving her in the best of spirits and very hopeful. He was not away long until he received sudden summons to return. Mrs Weitenhagen sank very rapidly and on December 15, her tired body found relief by the visit of the angel of death.
The funeral party arrived in Hawkeye, Dec 17, and the funeral services were conducted from the Lutheran church on the afternoon of December 17, 1920, Rev. L.A. Westenberger officiating. Interment was made in Hawkeye cemetery.
Besides the husband and two children, Mrs Weitenhagen is survived by her parents, two sisters, Mrs Chas. Dyke of Plaza, ND, and Mrs Fred Hochberger of Sutton, ND, three brothers, Albert Hehmke of Sanish, ND and Richard and Henry Hehmke of Hawkeye, and many other relatives and friends. The many friends of the bereaved join in sympathy with those who mourn this great loss.
