Billie Bob Tekell

Billie Bob Tekell, 75, of Kerens passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001 at his residence. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Paschal Funeral Home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church in Kerens with Jimmy Glenn officiating. Interment will follow at Kerens Cemetery.

Mr. Tekell was born March 3, 1925 in Dawson. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, who served on the U.S.S. Talamanca. He was best known for his love of animals and his love of farming.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mariland Tekell; infant son, Larry Tekell; parents, Lola and Bill Tekell; sister, Joyce Faye; and best friend, J.J. Mr. Tekell is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Fred Montgomery of Humble, Glenda and Kenny Sessions and Tanya and Leroy Hobbs, all of Kerens; granddaughters and their husbands, Misty and Brandon Blue and Kelly and Kevin Lee, all of Kerens; grandsons, Ryan Sessions, Trey Hobbs and Billy Kyle Hobbs, all of Kerens, and Jason Wasson of Humble; great-grandsons, Jordan Lee, Tyler Lee and Brady Blue, all of Kerens; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Jack Chornic of Lake Dallas; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Betty Tekell of Lafayette, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
