Marilyn Coates Tekell

Marilyn Coates Tekell, 73, of Kerens passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at her residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Kerens Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles A. Reese officiating. Interment will follow at Kerens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Allen, Jackie Allen, Greg Allen, Joe Saunders, Bubba Blissett and Dr. Richard Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Terry Sanders and Woodrow Massey.

Mrs. Tekell was born Jan. 10, 1927 in Kerens. She was a lifelong resident of Kerens. She graduated from Kerens High School and Sam Houston State College. She taught for a short time at the Corsicana State Home. She served on the first board of the Richland Chambers Reservoir Planning and Zoning Committee. She also served for 15 years on the Kerens Housing Authority board.

Mrs. Tekell is survived by her husband, Bob Tekell of Kerens; daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Fred Montgomery of Humble, Glenda and Kenny Sessions and Tanya and Leroy Hobbs, all of Kerens; granddaughters, Misty Blue and Kelly Lee, both of Kerens; grandsons, Ryan Sessions, Trey Hobbs and Billy Kyle Hobbs, all of Kerens, and Jasson Wasson of Humble; and great-grandsons, Tyler and Jordan Lee, both of Kerens.
