Williams, Mary Anna nee McCabe McCabe (Feb. 27, 1839-Feb. 19, 1929 –wife of Simon McCabe [married Aug. 9, 1853 at St. Mary’s, Lindsay, Ontario when she was only 14 years of age] –after Simon’s death in 1870, re-married to Nelson E. Williams [married Sept. 1, 1871 in Catholic ceremony in City of Manitowoc] –daughter of Patrick McCabe and Margaret Jackson –born Toronto, Canada –moved from Canada with her husband Simon McCabe in 1865 –“Mrs. Williams and her husband [first husband Simon McCabe], together with their five children, arrived in Eaton on November 23, 1865 after the long trip. They had left their Canadian home after packing their possessions in one of the one-time familiar covered wagons and started out to find a new home in which to locate.” –from obit –from Nov. 22, 1900 to July 10, 1905 owned the 60 acre farm at 18808 State Highway 151 in Section 11, Town of Eaton –sold this farm to Edward Schwab and his wife Margaret Williams –Margaret Williams Schwab was a daughter of Mary Ann –from July 10, 1905 to July 25, 1913 owned the lot with house that was at the intersection of US Highway 151 and County Road W in Section 10, Town of Eaton –sold this house to her daughter Pernelia Victoria Williams (who later married Daniel Donavan) –in 1946, when the then current road was widened to create State Highway 32 [which is now County Road W], this corner house was moved to a new location –died from “myocarditis –senility”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery, St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton 2-12-14 [marriage record Manitowoc 4-48] [death record Manitowoc 24-583]

MARY ANN WILLIAMS

ST NAZIANZ, Feb. 28 – Many of the residents of this village and of the neighboring farming district gathered at St. Gregory's church Friday morning to pay their last respects to another of the old pioneers, Mrs. Mary Williams, who was, at the time of her death a little less than ninety-one years of age and one of the oldest persons in the county. Her death a few days previously terminated a lingering illness of many months at the home of her daughter, Miss Pamelia Williams, on the Calumet road about six miles northwest of this village.
Mrs. Williams was born in Canada February 27, 1838. She was married first to a Mr. McCabe and some time after his death she married Nelson E. Williams with whom she lived for many years on the old homestead where she died.
She is survived by five daughters and three sons, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and by many more distant relatives. Among those in attendance at the funeral were her daughters, Miss Pamelia Williams with whom she made her home for many years, Mrs. Catherine Coyne, Mrs. Mary Markee and Mrs. Thomas Fallon of Chicago, Mrs. Edward Schwab and Mrs. Mary Fitzgerald of Valders, her son, Pat McCabe of North Dakota and several members of her children's families from Valders and Chilton.
A requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fintan Holzknecht, SDS and interment was made in the family plot in the village cemetery. Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers.
