Mrs Carrie Alberta Simpson Hicks, wife of Orman Hicks, died this morning at her home on North Street [North Adams] after a long illness; born in Sutton in 1858; her parents died when she was 4 years of age and she was adopted by H. V. Newell of Southbridge; attended school at Southbridge and finished at Brimfield Academy, then taught school for some time; married Mr Hicks in 1883; besides husband leaves three children Harvey L of Chicago, Rev C. O. and Miss Mabel C of this city; also a sister Miss Eldora Simpson of Southbridge; funeral from the home, burial in the family lot in North Heath [published Tuesday, August 12, 1913, Springfield Union]
