Sister Roman Lingle, age 91, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Monday, May 8, 1995, at Holy Family Covnent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 1995, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem., with burial in Holy Family Cemetery.
The former Agnes Irene Lingle was born December 28, 1903, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Jacob and Jennie Miley Lingle. She entered the convent in 1919 and professed her vows in 1923. She earned a B.A. Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc and a M. Ed., from Marquette University, Milwaukee. Sister Roman served as an elementary teacher at St. Boniface, Manitowoc, Boyd, Kiel, Whitelaw, Rice Lake, Sturgeon Bay, St. Agnes, Green Bay, Wis.; Woodsfield, Ohio and taught high school students at Catholic Memorial, Waukesha, Wis., and Holy Family High School, Lindsay, Neb. She was the local director and principal at Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace, Honolulu, Hawaii for six years. After retiring from active ministry in 1989, she resided at St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, for several years and then retired to the Motherhouse in the fall of 1990.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m on Wednesday at the Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
