Elsie Christel, 76, of St. Nazianz, passed away February 13, at Mesa, Arizona. Services were Wednesday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Rev. David Christel, a step-son, Rev. Reginald Schrimpf and Rev. Cletus LaMere, officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

She was born, the daughter of the late Louis and Ida Zorn Voigt on June 3, 1911. She attended Collins school and was a 1928 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. She was formerly employed by the Kohler Company for 25 years until her retirement and later operated JanEl Ceramics at St. Nazianz.

She married Raymond (Dutch) Pankratz, September 3, 1930 at St. Mary’s Church, Clarks Mills. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1963. She later married William L. Christel on October 3, 1980 at Holy Trinity Church, School Hill. The couple lived in the St. Nazianz area and Mesa, Arizona. She was a member of the St. Nazianz Sheephead Club and Holy Trinity church, School Hill.

Survivors include her husband, William; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill (Shirley) Pankratz, Sussex; Harold (Delores) Pankratz, New Brighten, Minnesota; Paul (Jan) Pankratz, Minnesota; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy (Warren) Otto, Valders; Jane (Richard) Schaller, St. Nazianz; 26 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
