Platten, Helen nee Mueller (April 7, 1872-March 18, 1902 –first wife of Adam Platten [married Nov. 10, 1891 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton –after the death of Helen, Adam re-married to Helen Wesling on May 23, 1905 at St. Gregory] –daughter of John Nicolas Mueller and Maria Schad –born Town of Schleswig –“Mrs. Helen Platten of Town of Liberty had to be taken to the state mental facility in Oshkosh on March 5, 1902. She had been so disturbed by the loss of her home by fire that she lost her reason.” – “A nervous shock, induced by the excitement attendant upon a fire which destroyed her home, is responsible for the pitiable condition of Mrs. Helen Platten, a well-known resident of Liberty, who was Wednesday adjudged insane and committed to the Northern hospital at Oshkosh. A nervous shock, induced by the excitement attendant upon a fire which destroyed her home, is responsible for the pitiable condition of Mrs. Helen Platten, a well known resident of Liberty, who was Wednesday adjudged insane and committed to the Northern hospital at Oshkosh. Mrs. Platten is afflicted with violent mania and fear that she might do herself injury led relatives and friends to petition for her commitment.
