Arnold Scherer, 38, of St. Nazianz, died late Tuesday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after being stricken with a heart attack. A resident of Manitowoc County all his life, he was born March 21, 1918, in the Town of Newton, a son of George and Tillie Holzer Scherer. He made his home in St. Nazianz since childhood. He was married to Elsie Marzinski on Aug. 28, 1943. A World War II veteran, Mr. Scherer served in the Army for one year. He was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church in St. Nazianz.
Survivors are his wife; his parents; one brother, Francis of Route 1, Kiel and two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Armelda) Backhaus, St. Nazianz and Mrs. Vilas (Lorraine) Behnke, Reedsville.
Funeral services will be held at St. Gregory's Church with the Rev. Dennis Cooney, pastor, the celebrant of the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
