TABER, Alberta - Wilma R. Marshall Aberneathy, devoted wife of Buryl T. Aberneathy, passed away peacefully Aug. 28, 2003 at the age of 86 years. Her last weeks were spent in the loving care of her husband, Buryl; her daughter, Ellen Conrad; and the generous staff at the Taber Active Care and Continuing Care Hospital.

Wilma was born Jan. 9, 1917 in Huntington, the 10th of 15 children born to John W. and Martha E. Marshall. When Wilma was 8 years old, her father was killed in a mining accident. She was also preceded in death by her mother and 12 of 15 brothers and sisters.

Wilma and Buryl were married April 8, 1939 in Palo Alto, Calif. A few years later, they moved to Canada. From 1942-1986, Wilma and Buryl lived in Ottawa, Ontario, where she leaves behind many wonderful friends and acquaintances. In 1986, they moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where she established great ties within her community. In 1997, Wilma and Buryl, moved to Taber to be closer to their daughter and her family. In March 2003, she moved to the Taber Continuing Care Hospital and enjoyed being closer to her husband, Buryl.

In April 2003, Wilma and Buryl Aberneathy celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. As active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they served two missions at the temple in Washington, D.C.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her devoted daughter, Ellen May Aberneathy Conrad, and son-in-law, John Conrad. She will be greatly missed by her four loving grandchildren, Paul (Natalie) Conrad, Christine (Kevin) Paquette, Caleb Conrad and Elizabeth Conrad. Her great-grandchildren, who were honored to know her, are Thomas Paquette, Bethany Conrad, Jay Paquette, Luke Paquette, Savannah Conrad and Kathryn Conrad. She also leaves behind her sisters, Leah Jones and Neva Lake of Utah; three sisters-in-law, Lila, Beverly and Reva; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held Sept. 2, at the LDS Chapel in Taber. Interment, Taber Cemetery under the direction of Christensen Salmon Funeral Home.
