Josephine was born May 2, 1922 in Coalville to Gustave Gordon Bolinder and Victoria Clark. She was the second of 11 children. She spent her younger years in Wanship before moving to Grantsville. Life was not easy for Josephine. She was only 13 years old when her life changed drastically with the early death of her mother. She took on the responsibility of raising her younger siblings.
She met and married her sweetheart Warren J. (Bud) Butler. They were married May 26, 1939. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. While starting their own family, they continued to raise her siblings. Together they had seven children. Although her main focus was raising her family, she also worked at many jobs outside the home.
She had many talents. She was a great cook. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved the music they shared with her.
She is survived by her seven children: Richard (Cindy), Bette (Don) Nordquist, Donnie (Connie), Marsha (Joe) Rupp, Debra (Sam) Mardanlou, Gary (Julie), Dawna (Mike) Moser, 23 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and many others who called her grandma. She is also survived by brothers and sisters Samual LeRoy (Kathleen) Bolinder, Anna (Guaine) DeMasters, Karen (Julian) Manzanares, Sally Kerr, Art Lewis, and special in-laws Farrell (Martha) Butler, Leila Riding and Milva (Sally) Bolinder. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Brian J. Butler, son-in-law Brian J. Hill, sisters Maxine and Thelda, and brothers Earl, Glenn, Don and Jack.
Funeral services will be held Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. in the Hale Street Chapel. A viewing will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
