OBIT: Carmi White County Democrat Thurs Aug 31, 1905. Bright Lad Of Burnt Prairie Passed Away Last Saturday. Alva, son of John and Lucy Ewing, departed this life Saturday, Aug. 26, at 5 o'clock. His death came as a great shock to his many friends and to the family as he was not thought to be seriously sick until Saturday morning. He professed a hope in Christ about a year and a half ago. He was 17 years, 9 months and 26 days of age. The funeral services were conducted by Bro. Borah, pastor of C.P. Church at Liberty [Cumberland Presbyterian]. The remains were laid to rest in the Simpson cemetery in Wayne County.
