MRS. BETTS DIES FROM PNEUMONIA
Popular Rossland Matron Succumbs At Her Home Saturday at Midnight--Ill Only Short Time
Rossland was shocked Sunday morning when it became generally known the Mrs. Fanny Betts, wife of Mr. A. M. Betts, had died during the night from pneumonia at her home here.
Deceased had only been ill a short time. About a week ago a little son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Betts at the Sisters' hospital. The little one died soon after being born, the mother convalesing [sic] to the point where she was taken to her home.
Dread pneumonia developed later...Mrs. Betts was...a member of the English church and Order of the Eastern Star. She was active in patriotic work, being secretary of the Red Cross society, and taking a prominent part in all war work.
Deceased was born in England, was 32 years of age and has resided in Rossland over twelve years. Her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. H. Appelton [sic], reside at Fall River, Mass.
Mr. Betts will have the sympathy of the entire community in his sad bereavement.
Interment was made in Sunnyside cemetery at 2 o'clock this afternoon.
