John Milton Moore, son of William and Elizabeth F. Moore, died at Athens May 11 after protracted illness. He was born November 8, 1858 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and came to Portsmouth with the family during the Civil War. He will be remembered by citizens of Portsmouth prior to 1885 when he removed to the East. Surviving are the sisters Mrs. L. M. Ricker and Miss M.E. Moore of this city and Mrs. Elizabeth F. Peebles of Northfield, Massachusetts and one brother, E. L. Moore. Funeral services were conducted from the Ricker home Friday afternoon. Burial was in Greenlawn.
