Alice Randall Marsh studied at the Art Institute of Chicago in the early 1890s and later in Paris with James MacNeill Whistler, Merson, Collin and Fred MacMonnies. She exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1895. A painting, Interior of Chapel at Crecy-en-Brie, was also exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1895. While studying in Paris Alice met and married fellow American artist Frederick Dana Marsh. The couple went on to have three sons, the first two James and Reginald being born in Paris. The Marsh family returned the United States in 1900.
