Stella was the daughter of Franklin Hasting Findley and Esther Louise Ribblett. She married George O. Sanborn, together they had 3 children. Ruth (Berchtold), Alice Belle (Meier) and Dorothy Gladys. Dorothy died at the age of 1, from the flu epidemic in 1918. She is also buried at Maple Grove Cemetery, next to Stella and George. Dorothy's grave is unmarked. Stella married Sherman Dibble after George's death.
