Larson Funeral Home announces the death of Floyd Guse, age 84, of Graceville, formerly of Ortonville, who passed away on May 22, 2011 at the Grace Home in Graceville. Funeral Services for Floyd will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 5 - 7:30 with a prayer service at 7:30. Fr. Robert Groblirsch will be officiating and burial will be at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville, MN. Floyd LeRoy Guse, the son of Lloyd and Lillian (Monson) Guse, was born December 1, 1926 on the family farm in Akron Twp. near Correll, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Odessa. Floyd attended school in Correll until the eighth grade. Floyd farmed with his father and brother Lee, raising Duroc hogs, he worked for Flueger's Creamery and Delano Granite. He was inducted into the Army December 1945 until October 1946. He served as a Military Police during WWII. He received an Army of Occupation Medal and WWII Victory Medal. When he returned he worked at the Post Office and retired December 1, 1986 after 24 years of service. Floyd also was Sexton at Mound Cemetery from 1992 - 2006. Floyd was united in marriage to Gertrude Stolpman November 27, 1954. They made their home in Ortonville until their move to Grace Village in Graceville and then moved to Grace Home. Gertrude passed away October 24, 2009. Floyd enjoyed collecting International toys. He made lawn ornaments for himself as well as carpentry work for people in his spare time. Floyd built his home in Ortonville where he and Gertrude lived. Floyd belonged to St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville and the VFW Post #3964. Floyd passed away at Grace Home Sunday, May 22, 2011. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors: brother, Lee (Pat) Guse of Ortonville; 5 nephews, Allan Guse of Ortonville, Richard and Larry Guse of Correll, Myron Guse of Appelton, Lorne Guse of Zimbrota; 1 niece, Linda Schuerman of Milan.
