He died on Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 5, 1917, in Comanche and attended school there. He moved to Lubbock in 1963 from Lamesa. He married Lucia Aileen Nix on Aug. 19, 1959, in New Mexico and again on August 21, 1978, in Lubbock.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He worked as a mechanic in several places in Lubbock and Lamesa until his retirement.
He was a member of Makenize Terrace Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Glynda Brown of Lubbock, and Quanda Bollock of Turlock, Calif.; two sisters, Vera May Mize and Maggie Lena Mize, both of Sweetwater; two brothers, Gene Mize of Odessa and Pete Mize of Comanche; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
