Margaret Elaine Lundeen was born March 30, 1924 in Hawarden, IA to parents Harold and Lula (Nelson) Smith. She passed away peacefully on October 18, 2012 at Morningside Care Center in Alcester, SD at the age of 88.
Margaret graduated from Hawarden High School in 1942. She worked at the telephone office in Hawarden. Margaret married Lloyd Lundeen on August 20, 1944.
The couple farmed near Alcester, SD. Lloyd passed away December 27, 2002 and Margaret continued to live in Alcester until the present time.
Margaret was a member of Alcester Baptist Church. She had been an active 4-H leader and a member of the Extension Club of South Dakota.
She enjoyed bowling, traveling, and playing bridge. She and Lloyd enjoyed golfing together after they retired and moved into Alcester.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Ann Younie and husband Scott of Sioux City, IA; granddaughter Holly Jo Kasten and husband David and great grandson Rhone all of Novato, CA; her sister-in-law Sheila Smith of Hawarden, IA and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, sister Beverly Holmdal and her husband Henry, brother Bernard Smith, and her sister-in-law Emily Gould and her husband Dale.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Alcester Baptist Church with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
