Knox Soldier's Wife Drowns In River Here - Falls Idalee From Volz Boat - Dragging of the Ohio River rear Wagner Beach for the body of Mrs. Idalee Volz, about 30, drowned Monday night when she fell from a motorboat, was halted at 1:30 p.m. yesterday but will start again this morning. Coast Guard authorities said last night. Mrs. Volz was returning from a ride to test a new outboard motor with her husband, Sergt. Oren Volz, Fort Knox military police, when she warned him there was a half-submerged log near the landing, friends said. Swerved to Miss Log - Her husband swerved the boat to miss the log and Mrs. Volz fell out. Sergeant Volz leaped after her but was dragged under by his hip boots which filled with water as he brought his wife to the surface. He loosed his hold to remove the boots and was unable to find Mrs. Volz again when he came up, witnesses said. Sergeant and Mrs. Volz, who lived in a summer cabin at Wagner Beach, had been married fifteen months. Sergeant Volz' home is Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Volz had been assistant cashier in the Prudential Life Insurance Company office here for nine years. (Published in The Louisville Courier-Journal, Wednesday, July 14, 1943)

Body of Woman Who Drowned Found - The body of Mrs. Idalee Volz, 30, who drowned Monday night when she fell from a motorboat on the Ohio River, was recovered by the Coast Guard at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near Wagner Beach. Mrs. Volz and her husband Sergt. Oren Volz, of the Fort Knox military police, lived in summer cabin at Wagner Beach. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the grave at Chaplin, Ky.
