June Ann Gutschow, age 72, of 1151 5th St., Kiel passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 8, 2012 with her family at her side, after a 7 year battle with cancer.
June was born June 13, 1940 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Roy & Mildred ( Snitker) Sohn.
She attended Spring Valley Grade School and Kiel High School.
On October 12, 1957 she married Robert L. Gutschow at St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley. June passed away 4 days before the couples 55th wedding anniversary.
She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel.
In her earlier years she had been employed at Mosel Centerville Telephone as an operator and the Leverenz Shoe Company. Raising her 5 children was her most cherished accomplishment, being a wonderful mother. She also did in-home babysitting for several Kiel families for 21 years.
June enjoyed going to local events to listen to the Jerry Schneider Band perform. June and Bob went on many plane and car trips throughout their married lives, visiting many states. She enjoyed company stopping by and visiting while sitting outside, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren & great grandchildren visits.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Kiel, five children: Sue (Mike) Lider, Gary (Tami) Gutschow, Randy (Laurie) Gutschow, Patty (Steve) Lutzke, Kevin (Gina) Gutschow, ten grandchildren; Jason Lider, Dennis (Heather) Lider, Bryan (Lisa) Gutschow, Bradley Gutschow & special friend, Elyssa Amweg, Brett Gutschow, Brandon (Andrea) Gutschow, Jamie Lutzke & special friend, Shaun Wolf, Jesse Lutzke, Madyson & Kaylee Gutschow. She is further survived by four great grandchildren, Austin & Autumn Gutschow, Breeley Gutschow, Ellie Rose Lider, one brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Sohn, two sisters, Diane (Jim) Koenig, Jeanette (Ed) Johnson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Orville & Gloria Valenstein, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Mildred Sohn, mother-in-law & father-in-law, Norman & Eldora Gutschow, grandson, Craig Gutschow and brother, Ronald Sohn.
Funeral services for June will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel with Rev. Judine Duerwaechter, officiating.
Entombment will take place in Garden of Peace Mausoleum, Town of Sheboygan.
Family and friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service.
June's family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Deubler, Dr. Kumar and the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, and Advantage Hospice, especially, Tina & Lori for their loving care and compassion.
