Ill for five weeks, John Leeson McLeland, 79-year-old farmer and gardener, died Sunday morning at his home, one-half mile west of Shideler. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Shideler M.E. Church, the Reverend J.F. Stephenson officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, near Eaton.

Mr. McLeland was born in Boone County. He came to Delaware County from Henry County and for 42 years had resided on the farm where he died. His golden wedding anniversary was celebrated two years ago.

He is survived by the widow, Amanda; five children, Pearl McLeland of Shideler, Mrs. Opal Toll, of Muncie, Mrs. Myrtle H. House, of Evansville, Mrs. Bessie M. Smith of Redondo Beach, Cal., and Clyde L. McLeland, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Vina Pittenger of Lebanon, and Mrs. Mary Baker of Crawfordsville, and one brother, Robert McLeland of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The body has been returned to the residence from the Meeks Mortuary.
