Mr. James C. "J.C." Stewart, age 69, of 16182 Robindale Drive Strongsville, Ohio, formerly of Buchanan County, Virginia, died suddenly Thursday, October 28th, 2004 at his home.

He was born in Jolo, West Virginia and was a son of the late Preacher Ervin M. Stewart and Macie L. Keene Stewart, both McDowell County, West Virginia natives.

After school, he joined the U. S. Army and met his wife, Hattie in Washington, D. C. during his service. After his discharge from service, they married and moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where they have resided for the past 45 years. He worked for General Motors for 38 years and was an Auxiliary Policeman with the Strongsville, Ohio police department since 1980. He worked with the Strongsville Senior Citizens and was of the Baptist faith.

He was the cherished husband of Hattie Nelson Stewart of Strongsville, Ohio; the dear father of one son, James C. Stewart, Jr. and wife, Jodi of North Royalton, Ohio, and one daughter, Tina Stewart Owen and husband, Jed of Strongsville, Ohio; also, the cherished grandfather of Sean Owen and Mary Owen of Strongsville, Ohio, and Rachel Stewart, Rebecca Stewart, and Robin Stewart of North Royalton, Ohio.

Also surviving are:

Three sisters:

Mrs. Gertrude Wallace of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Irene Sapp of Pikeville, Tennessee, and Mrs. Carl (Ethelene) Wimmer of Whitewood, Virginia.

One brother, Mr. Clyde Stewart and wife, Louise of Ligonier, Indiana.

Funeral services for Mr. James C. Stewart will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Members of Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 of Richlands, Virginia and Disabled American Veterans Tazewell County Chapter #31 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands from 4:00 p.m. ? 8:00 p.m. Monday.
