Edna C. Abercrombie, a native of Wayne County, Miss., and resident of Mobile, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 83.

Abercrombie, an avid gardener and reader, was a retiree of the Mulhearin Home after over 20 years of service as a nurse's aide.

She is survived by four children, Lowell Abercrombie, Raymond Abercrombie, Peggy Manning and Paula Hayes; a brother, James Williams; three sisters, Juaneta Jolly, Nellie White, and Estelle McDaniel; three step-children, Larry Abercrombie, Paul Abercrombie, and Jennifer New; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
