"Samuel W Trammell, County Pioneer, Dies --- Samuel W Trammell, 84 year old Pittsburg county pioneer died in a McAlester hospital today following a brief illness. Trammell, whose home was in Kiowa, route 1, was born in Missouri, Feb 27, 1872, and has resided in Pittsburg county for the past 44 years. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Masonic lodge, and of the Church of God. Survivors include three sons, George, Andy, and Lloyd, all of Kiowa; one brother, Bill, of Ashland; 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of relatives. They will be announced later by Chaney's Funeral home."
His mother was Sarah Ann Ragsdale, who died 27 Feb 1873, no burial record for her but is presumed to be buried in Ragsdale Cemetery in Christian County, Missouri near her parents' graves.
