Elias Barcroft

He died in August 26, 1851 of cholera. Barcroft was a member of the Missouri Senate and president of the "Tippecanoe Club" among other things. His wife, Margaret, is buried next to him.
Elias Barcroft was a pioneer settler in the Missouri Territory and was appointed Deputy Surveyor of the Missouri Territory in 1813. He surveyed and mapped a fair portion of the state of Missouri. He was a member of the Senate of Missouri in 1821 and 1822 at the time Jefferson City was chosen as the permanent seat of government for the new state of Missouri. He surveyed and laid out the City of Jefferson. He also served as Auditor of Public Accounts for the State of Missouri in 1821 and 1822.
