Mrs. George (K.C.) Baumert
KCN—Mrs. George (Katherine Christine) Mohme Baumert, of Keota, aged 80 years, died on Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Sheetz of Keota, following an illness of several months. Mrs. Baumert had been a resident of the Keota community almost all of her life, with the exception of her early years, which were spent on a farm east of Sigourney.
Mrs. Baumert was born in Rehme providence, West Thalen, Germany, on May 11, 1852, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mohme. In 1863 the family came to this county and settled on the farm east of Sigourney, known as the old Mohme farm. Mrs. Baumert was the sister of the late B.W. Mohme of Sigourney.
She was married to George Baumert of Keota and to this union were born five children, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Jake Leinen, Oscar Baumert, William Baumert, Mrs. Newt Weaver and Mrs. Sheets, all of the Keota community. She is also survived by one sister Mrs. Charley Starr of Wichita, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Charles Shaver, Mrs. Rosa Shaver, Mrs. Albert Rees, Mrs. Clara Robison, Mrs. Will Meyers, Mrs. Lizzie Crouse and Frank Seible, local persons.
Funeral service will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2;30 o’clock at the Presbyterian Church in Keota. Interment in the Keota Cemetery.
