Vena Rae Carter Estridge, age 67, of Germantown, Oh., passed Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Sycamore Hospital. Vena was born in Dayton, Oh., on February 16, 1944, to the late John R and Norene C (Garner) Carter. She retired from General Motors - Delco Moraine Division in 1999, after 31 years of service; and was an active member of the local union UAW #696. She was a member of the First Church of God in Germantown; the Germantown Regal Red Hatters-and known as the "Dutchess of Do A Lot"; Past President of Historical Society of Germantown, and the Twentieth Century Club. Vena was also a Board of Director for the Day-Met Credit Union. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E Estridge (1996); and her brother, Bill Carter.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Mary (Steve) Akers and Maria (Bob) Comer; 3 special grandchildren, Megan amd Taylor Comer and Tyler Akers all of Germantown; her sister, Sue Butler of West Carrollton; her brother, John (Carol) Carter of Laura, Oh; her sister-in-law, Patricia (Richard) Jordan; nieces and nephews, Eric Carter, Michael & Michelle Butler and Melissa Spatz; great-nieces and nephews, Dustin, Braden, and Michael Butler, Kayleigh Abney and Dylan Smith; and many special and dear friends too numerous to mention. Friends may call 2-5 p.m., Sunday, September 18th, 2011, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Germantown. The Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the First Church of God, Germantown, with Pastor Steven Carney officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Union Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Germantown Fire & EMT or Germantown First Church or God.
