Graveside service Monday: Graveside services were held at 10:00 a m Monday Oct 11, in Sunset cemetery for Walter Frank Thomas a former Cedar Rapids resident. Rev Marie Harm officiated. Mr Thomas spent his early life in the Cedar Rapids community. He was married to Susan Almeda Cox on Sept 12, 1917. They made their home in Duncan, Roscoe, Odessa and Kearney moving to Shelby in 1941 where they lived until the death of Mrs. Thomas in March, 1962. Mr. Thomas continued to make his home in Shelby with the exception of period of time spent with his daughters. He has been with his daughters in Colorado for the past few months. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by a son, Alden, in 1937. He is survived by a son, Bill a member of the U S Air Force, Bangor, Maine and two daughters, Mrs Wilfred (Betty) Doehling of Wiggens, Colo., and Mrs Geraldine Knapp of Weldona, Colo. He is a brother-in-law of Mr and Mrs Frank Bevins and William Robinson of Cedar Rapids. From the Albion News, October 13, 1965 page 8A.
