July 15, 1955 - October 20, 2012
Oleta Vandiver, 57, of Arlington, Texas passed away October 20, 2012 at Baylor Medical Center, Dallas, Texas.
She was born July 15, 1955 in Sweetwater, Texas to Winfred A. (Will) & Evelyn Oleta (McMillan) Davis.
She graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene, moved to Dallas in the early 80's. She worked as a loan officer most of her days, and then at 50 decided she wanted to drive a truck like her brothers and see the country. She loved driving and enjoyed chatting with all of her trucking friends. She could talk and talk and talk, but everyone loved it. She loved to read, dance, drink Dr, Pepper and spend time with her friends and family.
She believed that family came before anything and leaned on them as much as they leaned on her. She taught us girls and our friends how to play cards, two-step in the living room and enjoy life. Our house growing up was the party house and all of our friends LOVED coming to visit. She was cooking Sunday "fried" dinners up until she got sick for us and our friends.
Her grandkids were the light of her life and she spoiled them to no end. She enjoyed spoiling everyone and was never stingy in that sense. She was giving and liked to see everyone happy.
She is survived by three daughters, Marscilene Osowski, Ashley Vandiver and Staci Vandiver all of Arlington, Texas; three brothers: Winfred "Will" (Margie) Davis of DeSoto, Arthur (Ginger) Davis of Duncanville and Tony (Sharon Davis) of Mabank; one sister, Shirley (Bobby) Decker of Red Oak; two grandchildren, Maverick Allen and Shelby Raye. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Amy Vandiver.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Community Baptist Church in Ferris, Texas with Rev. Mickey Moriarty officiating. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery in Red Oak, Texas.
Visitation with the family will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Lung Association.
