Chester Belknap was first married to Sophia Freeman in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, with whom he had nine children. AFter Sophia died in 1826, he was remarried to her sister, Lucy Freeman Plympton, widow of Luther who died in New York state. Chester, a farmer, and Lucy added one more daughter to the family, including Lucy's children from her first marriage. They spent their last years with Lucy's son Dr. Edward L. Plympton and his family in Madison, Ohio.
