Ernest was born on July 24, 1927 in Concrete, Colorado to the late José Miguel and Teresita (Solano) Castellano . Ernest was raised in Chappell, New Mexico and worked for the railroad in his younger years. Ernest worked for Ideal Cement for 40 years. Ernest was a member of Saint Benedicts of Florence, Colorado, an accomplished musician, who played the guitar, violin, piano and harmonica. Ernest passed this talent to his children, and grandchildren. Ernest enjoyed dancing and loved spending time with his family.
Ernest was the best husband, father and grandfather, he taught his children to be loving and caring.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ambrioiso Castellano and sister, Mary Grace Padilla.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Marie (Kavanaugh) Castellano, son, Rudy (JoAnn) Castellano, daughter, Teresa (Bill) Hutchinson, son, Ernest Jr. (Linda) Castellano, son, Charlie (Bev) Castellano, daughter, Tina (Louie) Anaya, son, Anthony Castellano and son, Andrew (Leesa) Castellano, brothers, Elvires Castellano and Melaquias (Linda) Castellano, sisters, Celina Lesperance and Cesaria Montoya, 28 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Charles Anthony Funeral Home. Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass will follow at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Florence, CO. Viewing in Las Vegas, NM will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Rogers Chapel in Las Vegas, NM. Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012 with burial to follow at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Bernal, NM.
